Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation

The Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation is a new social entrepreneurship organisation bringing new thinking to public service delivery. The Foundation believe that documentaries are a vital part of British culture and democracy with a unique role to play in reflecting on the way we live and challenging our ideas, assumptions and fears about the past, present and future of the world.

The Foundation exists to nurture new talent and new approaches in documentary filmmaking. With its launch, the Foundation brings a completely new way – alongside television – to develop, fund and distribute the work of the next generation of UK documentary filmmakers So far grants have enabled over 40 wonderful, award winning and influential films to be made – check them out here including The End of the Line, Chosen, We Are Together, Moving to Mars and Afghan Star.

But the work only begins there – they train, inform, inspire, gather and campaign too. Look around the site to discover more about how they deliver their mission. The media landscape is transforming fast and they are committed diet pills to going beyond TV to find new ways to make important, world changing documentaries happen.

The Foundation have funded several short documentaries including Moby Longinotto's Small Town Boy, Mark Craig's Sheffield Grierson winning Talk to Me and Eva Weber's The Solitary Life of Cranes.

Currently the Foundation is not funding short documentaries, unless through competitions and opportunities which will be announced and run via the new 4Docs website diet supplements (which you are on now).
