Synopsis

You have a choice. Either we weld your lungs to your chest cavity so that you can breathe, but that will be permanent and you will die within a year; or you can wait to have both your lungs transplanted, which may never happen and if it does, you are likely to die before you ever get it...

At the age of 21 Emily Thackray had to wait at least 18 months for a double lung transplant, and with less than a year to live, she focused on raising awareness to save other people with great success.

In 2008 Emily registered her campaign, 'Live life then Give Life,' as a charity and in 2009 it was voted Best New Charity of the Year in the Charity Times Awards.
