Competition film
Bicycle Revolutionary
Made by: Dylan Howitt
Synopsis
Estelle is cycle crazy - in mind, legs and spirit she loves humankind’s most wonderful and green invention.
This film is about where cycling takes you in your mind and spirit, ‘negotiating a city not always that kind’.
Edited in camera on one roll of super 8, ‘Bicycle Revolutionary’ features a soundtrack created by playing a bike like an instrument, mixed with Estelle's musings on the move.
For planet and personal health, the idea is to inspire or re-inspire people to get on their bike.
More Info
Regular cyclists enjoy a fitness level equal to that of a person ten years younger. During rush-hour, a bike is about twice as fast as a car. Bikes require no road tax, no MOT, no fuel bills (unless you count chocolate).
Bikes produce absolutely no pollution and are lovely and quiet.
This was made for 'Attack of the 50ft reels' at Sheffield Docfest 2009 - a challenge to make a doc with just one roll of super-8 film.
